Space Shuttle Endeavor

Garrett, and Brady, and mommy went to see the Space Shuttle Endeavor meander through the streets of Los Angeles - an awesome historical moment (especially since we missed it landing at LAX).

Bob's friend Cory was supposed to help him move Cory's art out of our garage that morning so Bob missed the chance to check it out with us.  However, when Cory was late Bob called him and lo and behold he texted Bob a photo of the Space Shuttle.  Thanks.  Nice work Cory.

Besides the sheer awesome size of the Shuttle the thing that impressed me was the way the crowd listened to the police, helped each other, was jubilant, and polite, and very calm.  What a way to be reinvigorated about LA!

Mommy and Garrett at Tapia Brothers

Nothing like getting over croup by taking a tractor train ride and then running through a corn maze.

Seriously - poor Garrett was almost completely better and had been couped up in the house - some fresh air did him and mommy some good.  Operation keep Garrett and Brady apart was still in effect so Brady was at Hauser Truck with daddy (which worked - Brady never got sick!)

A sight for sore eyes - we weren't in the maze that long, but with mommy in charge of the map instead of daddy there was a distinct possibility that we would have had to call someone to come and help us find the exit.  We all play to our strengths - mommy takes photos and daddy typically handles the navigation and map(s) aspect of our adventures.

Zamfest

How can you not love an event called Zamfest?!  Just the name itself sounds fun.

Great concept - art and music and dancing for kids.  Too bad it was SO HOT it was almost unbearable.  We would have stayed so much longer if it was a little cooler.

Don't get me wrong - we still had a blast.  Garrett played drums and Brady ran around like a madman.

Brady trying to take some other kid's bike.  He wasn't even covert about it.

Garrett didn't care for the DJ equipment - apparently he is much more of a rocker.

Random Obama advertisement.

No - mommy did not embarrass herself or anyone else by even thinking of attempting any hip hop moves.

We also made a cheesy family flipbook - one of those old school books where you take tons of still photos and flip it so it looks like everyone is in motion.  Too funny.

LACMA and the Levitating Mass and Metropolis

Another museum - great place for mom and dad to soak in some culture and for kids to run around (and  - oh yeah - start to appreciate art at an early age too!)  But the running around and getting energy out part is great too.

We have NextGen passes - which make G and B free until age 18 - which I think they would be anyways.  The great part is that they each also get to take an adult in free with them - so mom and dad save about $20 each per visit.  Bonus!

Levitating Mass -

Cool architecture of the LACMA building -

Ray's Restaurant and Stark Bar -

Metropolis - super cool art installation with hundreds of cars and trains running all throughout -

Trip to the East Coast Part Trois - Final Installment - VA and DC

VA and DC - the final leg of our trip!

We hit A LOT of monuments . . .

We toured the Supreme Court and Capitol (our White House tour was cancelled - how rude of foreign events to necessitate a speech from the Rose Garden and a cancelling of tours for the day ours was scheduled on).

We all LOVED the Air and Space Museum.

We walked all over Old Towne Alexandria and saw mommy's friends Chris and Michelle.

Garrett doing his own performances and dancing to the street performers' music . . .

So fun catching up with old friends!  It's great to have kept in touch and kept meaningful friendships intact.

We visited mommy's friends Alice and Steve and their little boy Grayson (who dressed Garrett up).  We adore Alice and Steve and big G (and big and little G adore each other).

We closed out the trip with Mt. Vernon.  It was a whirlwind trip - but we saw a lot in a short period of time - and managed to eat lunch too.  We even made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare.
