The Summer of Swimming

Not only was this the summer of art for Garrett, but the summer of swimming for the whole family.

Garrett took swim lessons all summer with teacher Jennifer - every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at 3:40.  Sounds like a weird time, but it worked out perfectly.  Ana was gone for the day, nap time was over, and the boys and mommy had something to occupy our time.  Garrett would swim and mommy would play with Brady in the front yard or inside grammy and papa's house.  Not sure how people that had to drive to lessons made it there in time - we barely made it there most days and we only had to walk two houses down!

Check out this video from the end of the summer - G improved so much.  Go G!!!!

Brady also went swimming all summer - just not as much as G.  We did mommy and me swimming every Wed AM while G was in big boy school for a few hours.  Fun!  B was skeptical at first, but was pouring water over his own head and putting his face in the water at the end.

Garrett also got to swim a lot with mommy and daddy.  Mommy would feed Brady and then either mommy or daddy would lay with him to help him fall asleep.  Garrett got to go swimming a lot with whoever wasn't laying with Brady.  We had a lot of fun early evenings practicing swimming and playing on the stairs at grammy and papa's pool.

Next summer here we come!  Hawaii next year too!

Too Busy To Crawl AKA Step Aside - I'm Walking - Get Out of My Way!

Oh yeah - in case you didn't notice by some earlier postings' content - little Mr. Brady is now walking. Kind of a big thing we forgot to mention.  Gone is the crazy one legged crawling we were all so fond of.  Really too cute.  Much different than the way Garrett crawled.  Brady also crawled earlier and for longer than Garrett.  To each their own.

Check out the videos . . .

(In case you were wondering - yes - our baby is wielding a spatula.  Sometimes it is a saw, sometimes a stuffed animal, sometimes Tupperware . . . )

The first video is from June and the second is from August.  Brady is perfecting his walking skills and LOVES to walk ALL OVER THE PLACE.  His current thing is walking backwards and trying to figure out how to ride on his Y-Bike.  We'll have to video that one too - however, we are usually too busy making sure he doesn't fall off.  He will still take an occasional ride in the Ergo and does submit to riding in the cart like at Target this morning.  I guess it's still fun to have mommy power your movement every once and awhile.

Soon we won't be able to keep up with two little energetic and rambunctious boys running all over the house!

Let's Party!

We had a great birthday celebration for Mr. Brady Kai - lots of friends and family.

Brady had a blast - there was a bouncer, face painting/airbrush tattoos, a taco cart with yummy tacos and quesadillas with all the fixings, and swimming.

(the special egg free cake that he never even ate!)

(Garrett guarding the super yummy egg ridden cake that mommy really wanted to eat)

We know, we know.  A little much for a first birthday party - but it was a long year and it was great to spend some time hanging out with friends and family we hadn't seen for awhile.

Plus - everyone had a blast - especially B.  He showed off and walked all over the party.  He LOVED the bouncer, went on the slide, played with the big kids, and ate TONS of food.

Big brother Garrett seemed to have fun too!

A Day at the Beach

We spent a day at the beach as a family - we went to Zach's 2nd B-Day party at the Santa Monica Carousel - but spent lots of time just enjoying the beach, atmosphere, and each other.

Garrett, Brady, and Bob "worked out," climbed, and ran around . . . (mommy climbed up the rope too, but mostly just hung out and relaxed).

We also had lunch afterwards with Ed, Scott, and Stephanie at Coast.  Yum.
