Museum of Flying

How cool - and loads closer than the one in Palm Desert!  Garrett flew a Fed Ex plane, another random plane, a fighter jet cockpit simulator, and another simulator which he decided was more fun not even turned on.  He got confused though - the woman from the museum that was helping us told G that the sounds was about equal to that of a vacuum cleaner and he kept asking me all day how a vacuum cleaner helped the plane fly.  Oh well.

Brady wanted to go in everything too.  Soon enough Brady, soon enough.

After that we went across the street to the Santa Monica airport Public Admin bldg where they have a free public viewing deck which is open dawn to dusk every day.  We had excellent timing and saw three planes take off and two land - we cheered them on and welcomed them back from their trips.

Don't Disturb Brady! Blog Entry AKA The Crib Sucks

When he naps (which is NEVER in the crib), it's a miracle - so we certainly don't tiptoe, but we don't disturb him either.

Mommy needs a few minutes of peace and quiet - it's great when naps happen and even better when they coincide with conference calls - whether Ana is here or not . . .

Brothers . . .

Getting them to both stay still and look (and smile) is like orchestrating a peace or trade accord between two superpowers.  No easy task.  But fun nonetheless.

I Will Not Stop Until I Exlpore Every Inch of This Place

And he means it . . .

Look Mom, I'm Driving a Trash Truck!

How much more fun could a little boy have - sitting in two recycling/trash trucks - and moving the arm that picks up the trashcans in one of them - and then sitting on a motorcycle and in a street sweeping truck?!  I mean, come on.  And yes - we stopped at the booth and planted a tomato plant for mom's benefit.  I liked the guy who stood at the one truck and had to say "push open and now closed and up and now down" all day long.  Yikes.

Brady was in attendance too, but chilled in the stroller while dad pushed him around and kept him in the shade - poor little guy had the sniffles.  He passed out as soon as we got back to the car.

WHPS Open House

What a fun time - unfortunately Brady had the sniffles, so mommy and Garrett went to the Open House and daddy and Brady stayed home.

Although I think Garrett's favorite part was riding the shuttle back to our car - I liked the opportunity to see all of his class' artwork and the new things in the classroom - the silkworms, aquarium, vases and chairs from Teacher Appreciation Week, etc.

Garrett liked showing off the new and improved Room One Garden - it was decorated with all of their birdhouses and butterflies.  So cute.

What Am I Doing??!!

Brady swinging at the park . . . I wish I knew what was going through his head . . . mixed feelings for sure.

Mother's Day Weekend Madness

We went to Ventura Beach/Harbor, Lake Casitas (after seeing a sign and thinking - hey - what is Lake Casitas? - and deciding to check out a huge man made lake that you can boat on, but not swim in or "come in contact with")), and Ojai for Mother's Day weekend - a blast - and tiring!

As usual - Garrett's favorite part was the hotel.  That kid is obsessed with hotels.  I guess you can't have much more fun than sitting around naked sending "emails."  I'm sure he'll be pleased that we have included that pix!

We met Bob's friends Gary and Andrea at Brophy Bros. at the Harbor (yum) and then walked around the Harbor area - ran on the docks, had ice cream, ran in the grass, ran on the beach (notice a theme of having Garrett run a lot and blow off some steam??!!).

Dinner Sat PM was at Spencer McKenzie's - really good fish joint.  Super casual.  Garrett LOVED his fish and carrot sticks.  Mom LOVED her carne asada taco.

Lake Casitas was really very peaceful - lots of people camping.  We will have to go back when the boys are older.  Garrett would like to kayak to the Main Island and check out the floating restrooms.  Sounds interesting.

Ojai was next up on the agenda.  I actually convinced Bob to eat at a vegan restaurant.  Ha.  Yum.  I loved the tempeh, Garrett loved the smoothie, Brady loved the music, and Bob loved Garrett sitting in his lap.  So, everyone was happy.  After eating G was really tired, so Brady and I went into the Ojai Valley Museum and then we hit the road back to LA.  Very fun weekend.

Yes Garrett - we will do the trolley the next time . . .  you kinda fell asleep . . .
