I subsequently discovered I have a mom friend who has a plot right near us - she has spent since November (it is July) planning these intricate layered planting boxes that she is building. I am sure it will look cool in the end, but we decided to take the - hey let's just have fun and plant some random stuff approach.
Works for us.
