Leo Carrillo SP

Some basic info:

Leo Carrillo State Park has 1.5 miles of beach for swimming, surfing, windsurfing, surf fishing and beach combing. The beach also has tide pools, coastal caves and reefs for exploring. Giant sycamores shade the main campgrounds. The park also features back-country hiking.

Nature walks and campfire programs are offered and a small Visitor Center has interpretive displays. During the summer, children's programs are available.
The park was named after Leo Carrillo (1880-1961), actor, preservationist and conservationist. Leo Carrillo served on the California Beach and Parks commission for eighteen years, and was instrumental in the state's acquisition of the Hearst property at San Simeon. He was related by blood and marriage to a long line of distinguished original Californians. Leo's greatest fame came from his portrayal of Pancho, the sidekick to Duncan Renaldo's Cisco Kid, an early 1950's TV series.
We went early and it was still overcast - perfect weather.  After we were there for awhile it started getting hotter and hotter, so we're glad we ventured out early.  We also had an annoying family with a grandma with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth set up camp near us, so it was time to move on and have an impromptu picnic at the campground across PCH from the beach.

Garrett ran around and pretended he was cooking at a campfire and Brady packed in more food than any of us (as usual).

A quick stop at the Malibu Country Kitchen turned into a not so quick stop - the service there is lackluster - they were so SLOW.  Of course, they took a break from taking orders right when Bob got to the front of the line.  We also had a potential crisis that was averted when I hopped out at a red light and ran across part of PCH with Garrett in my arms - he declared "I have to go poop NOOWWWWWWW."  He wasn't kidding.  We made it JUST in time.  Thanks for the use of the bathroom Cafe Habana.

Garrett also thought it was funny to do his booty shakin' dance and have mom take photos of his butt.  He also borrowed mom's hat.  Even though I have explained to him many, many times that the Police are a musical group - he uses the hat to pretend he is a police officer.  Whatever makes you happy.  Have fun and pretend you are whatever you want to be!
